Through the eyes of children

Wishing you a Happy & Peaceful Christmas

We have had a wonderful couple of days.

We had our traditional Christmas Eve family meal consisting of a chicken dinner

followed by homemade cheesecake, raspberries, coffee and tablet.

We were lucky to see Santa last night he makes a trip round the village streets on Christmas Eve

The excitement and wonderment on the grand children's faces was brilliant.

Later on in the evening Colin made a trip to Glasgow to drop DD1 and family's pressies off

they were unable to join us for the meal as they have had the dreaded sickness bug.

This morning was spent quietly waiting for my dad to arrive for lunch.

We then headed off to drop off the girlie and boys parcels and spend a few hours with them

laughing quite a lot at the boys latest board game (doggie doo)

They gave me this which made me cry

This is what they love about me

Tomorrow is a pj day, books, DVDs snacks at the ready

Past Present Future

One of my all time favourite books is A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens

I have clear memories of a leather bound book with beautiful pencil drawings that belonged

to my Abido ( my pet name for my grandad)

He would read me the book not only at Christmas time but whenever I needed a bit of Christmas Spirt

So began the start of my love affair with the Ghosts of The Past The Present and The Future

I also have to admit to having a copy of every available DVD of the said book including the musical with Albert Finney to the latest one staring Jim Carrey

Over the past few weeks hubbie and I have had a few hic-cups with our health resulting in two tired people with a bit of a lack of the Christmas Spirt

So tonight after Strictly it will be a "Scrooge " DVD

Tonight's bedtime book will be A Christmas Carol

Let Christmas 2012 begin

Not a Lion,Tin Man or Scarecrow in sight

It was the Girlies school christmas party this afternoon. As mum was working I did a quick collection from school, lunch eaten, teeth brushed girl all dressed up hair done and she was ready.

Now this girl has her own unique style. On the winter boot hunt she saw a pair of red shoes and it was an instant love affair. Red has taken the place of pink as her favourite colour. The red shoes are now worn with every suitable outfit with this one she has added a red hairband she looks so grown up.

The party was a great success.

All Cosy Now

It has be a long year is some ways then in another it has flown by. We moved here last November and had a Christmas Tree in the lounge that still had the plaster on the walls that were the result of damp proofing.

No carpet, fireplace (was hoping for an open fire) or furniture that suited the cottage. It was also so cold we wore thermals and wrapped ourselves in quilts. Hubbie thought I was mad but there was no way I was not having a tree.

A year later and we have a lounge with carpet (cosy). The fireplace was purchased from online auction site stripped of four layers of paint. Hubbie opened up the old chimney.

The glass cabinet came from same place it was pine but now has a new set of legs and handles and is painted in Farrow & Ball Elephants Breath.

Have repainted various items and purchased few from Country Affair in Kinross which up-cycles furniture including my favourite cabinet (below) which has pride of place in our hall.

I have to admit to catching the up-cycling bug it really is enjoyable and suits the cottage so well.

The Power of Love

A couple of weeks ago we did the annual winter boot hunt with Aimee. Lack of anything suitable in our usual haunts we ended up doing a trip to John Lewis in Glasgow. Five boxes were brought out woo hoo but excitement turned to 'well at least one fitted' (slim footed girl).

After a visit to Starbucks we returned to John Lewis to take part in the Snowman Hunt. It involved looking for a snowman picture in 6 different departments.

On the ground floor who should we bump into but the 'main man' of Christmas.

Then we found a Snowman exactly the same as the advert with The Power of Love playing in the background. Afraid the photos aren't the best quality but they capture a bucket full of memories.
