A Plookie Tale

This may look like a plook (a spot for the non-scots)

But it is a nose stud!

For many a year I have wanted my nose pierced. Why? I have no earthly idea

I had intended to get it done in my sixtieth year in three years time but decided life's

too darn short. So last week while Colin was in USA I bought a denim jacket

floral maxi skirt and got my nose pierced. It is still a bit tender but I love it !!!!!

Too big a coward to get a tattoo though

Boston Bound

Here are my flags for Boston

About to wing their way across the pond

I used charm pack Terrain by Kate Spain for Moda

Nothing much to add apart from I was finishing them off while our grandaughter

was doing a bit of crafting. Now being extremely worldly wise at the age of eight

and having explained what I was doing she said simply

' I don't get it Gran'

What? I asked

' Why the boys wanted to hurt people '

Ditto............

Thumbs up

Shelley asked for selfish quilt in other words a lap quilt all for herself.

Now because she shares her home with a hubbie and a seventeen year old stepson

who she reckons is a bit messy and their new couch will be grey

I thought a black and white theme would be good.

The backing Is red her favourite colour

She has just sent this looking all cosy and ready for a chill out.

Neighbours

Since we moved to 'The Village' we have been overwhelmed by how welcomed we have been made to feel by everyone. I still love walking to the local shops and being greeted by everyone you pass with a hello or good morning. Our neighbours on all sides are lovely and we count ourselves as being very fortunate. Anyway our neighbour across from us has taken early retirement and I thought a flower was due.

Aren't these fab? She was delighted.

I have a serious bread weakness.

I have very weak wrists and find the whole kneeding of bread too much.

Paul Hollywoods soda bread recipe doesn't require kneeding.

Result !

It tastes good too

Heading to airport to pick Hubbie up flight due 9.35pm

First of Many

The wee girlie loved the cushion in a previous post and said she would love one too.

Thus started our first joint sewing venture.

Aimee drew the centre and I embroidered it.

We did a bit of patchwork

Result one happy girl as she has a unique pillow

One happy Gran as I hope this will be the first of many joint sewing ventures

Dressing-up

As the utility room and study continue to take shape

I spent time dressing my dresser!!

As we will have a spare room when the study moves downstairs I will be using it as a selfish room.
I bought the dresser a few months ago from the well known auction site for £95
Painted with Annie Sloan paint result !!

I am really happy with it

I just need to get rid of the Colin's " stuff "

New skills

Colin is finishing the utility and study he has decided not to pay a plasterer
He bought a DVD and is now learning a new skill
This may take a while
I love the colour green no matter how I try I can't resist it
I spent the afternoon putting together this wee cushion
The best of all worlds for me hand embroidery a bit of patchwork and it is green

Looks perfect on the rocking chair in the kitchen
Well pleased

This evening is being spent in front of the fire a bit of hand sewing

I am watching 'How To Train Your Dragon'

Never seen it before

Going! Going! Gone!

We live in Kincardine which is a village in The Kingdom of Fife.

Now for many years the blight on the horizon were three blocks of flats

Two of them came down in 2010

The final one came down today.

Now last night I was at a Smooth Radio Starlight Supper at my lovely neighbour Lesleys and her equally lovely daughter Abby. We raised £261 for MacMillan Cancer Care which was brill. It ended up being a very late night or should I say early morning I gave up at 1.30 am.

Now we sleep with the window open and were duly awakened at 6.20am with the arrival of the barriers security guards and police in preparation of the evacuation and road closure of our street. Really not enough sleep for me.

Anyway this is what happened today very impressive considering the flats are in close proximity to lots of lovely old cottages and also very new houses which were built on the land the first two blocks of flats were.

I am now off to bed catch up on some shut eye
