Well chuffed day

This little thing is so cool. I have to say when I saw it in Hobbycraft I wondered if it would do the job.

It is a rechargeable LED light no cord and 4 hour battery life. It also has 3 settings it is brilliant. Excellent for evening hand sewing.
It's nearly finished just the dreaded buttonholes to do which I might tackle this evening. I'm well chuffed.

Have been looking for a wee table to sit between the armchairs in the kitchen. I picked up this butlers table.
It was an unbelievable price in B & M
I put my fav vintage tray cloth on top. Just perfect.

Heading back in time

I learnt to sew on my gran's Singer treadle machine after Miss Allan said it would be best to take extra domestic science rather than waste my time in the sewing class. She did me a huge favour my grannie saw how upset I was steered me in the right direction and there began my love of the needle and thread.

From then til Wellybobs came along I made the majority of my clothes.

The search for a pretty classic blouse has been fruitless so. Here we go again.

A couple of patterns some pretty vintage style fabric and we're off!!!!!

I was a bit nervous cutting it out but the next wee while will be trying to put it together

Oh and the worst bit I am hopeless at buttonholes

Here we go.....

My adventure with crafts started long ago with cross stitch. I have done all sorts of cross stitch pictures, samplers etc mostly as gifts. Doing a required tidy and de-clutter of my craft stuff I came across this.

I got it as a pressie from Walby many Christmases ago...... I reckon it must be at least 15 years. He knows me so well ..... a green shelving unit full of teddies a few hearts and a quilt.... Not much has changed. Think it's time to get it started. It might take me a long time fitting it in with everything else. Here goes......
I have on numerous occasions tried to grow Lily of the Valley my wee grannies favourite flower. She had masses of it in her garden, also honeysuckle, hydrangea, lavender and climbing roses around all the fences. I can still smell the fragrance and instantly I am transported back fifty odd years. So rather than trying yet again to grow from bulbs I went for instant gardening and bought an established plant. So here's hoping it survives.

Cute & Chilling

Too cute

Chilling to a bit of Biffy Clyro

His mum and dad's favourite Biffy song, so much so that some of the lyrics adorn the living room walls

Vintage Find

As anyone who knows me they are well aware I love a bit of vintage

Yesterday we went to Dounes Antique Centre

In one of the cabinets I spied this Home Chat magazine I was drawn to it because of the front cover having a very traditional embroidery on it. It is dated 18th November 1949. A bit of research showed the magazine ran from 1895 until 1959

Look at the fashion page
Stories and articles even a film critics page

The transfer page was intact

Even more surprising the transfer hasn't been used

Inside the magazine I found this little parcel
InsIde was the envelope that the crinoline lady had been sent in
Also this embroidery that was produced to commemorate the coronation of Queen Elizabeth in1953

Even the little picture to put on the embroidery was inside
What a find

Easter

Our Easter usually consists of an Easter Egg Treasure Hunt (map included)

Walby decided on a different plan this year

A chart with numbers each of which had a different close-up of a spot in the garden.

Kids had to choose a number answer a question if they got it right they collected the photo and 'found' their egg. Don't know who was more excited the kids or adults.

Walby started my Easter Morning with my fave slightly cremated toasted roll and black coffee

Happy Day was had by everyone
