Hard to believe it is 3 years since we bought our cottage.
We set out with a list
1. Large enough to accommodate myself hubbie plus a returning 31 year old daughter
2. A newer type property no renovation required
3. Garage
4. Flat south facing rear garden
5. Detached
What did we end up with
A terraced cottage that was built in the late 1800's, looks like a But 'n Ben but had been extended at the back
and into the roof. Has no garage. North easterly sloping garden. In serious need
of upgrading. What do you do when your heart says buy and head says run a mile.
I always go with my heart and the fact that the cottage was still sitting on the market waiting
for us 6 months after our original viewing.
The bathroom
Stripped out having been treated for damp
As it is now
Bedrooms before and after
Our bedroom for some strange reason don't have a before photo
From what was the kitchen we formed a study and utility room
The strange shaped hall leading to the original kitchen
was altered to incorporate a shower room and square hall
There were two living rooms.
We use this one
My wee room
The biggest transformation
From 70s living/dining room
The only problem now having an older property is like owning the Forth Bridges
The house could be doing with a lick of paint........
Oh and new front windows more in keeping with the age of the property
