Time to Say Goodbye

It was a sad day today

It was the last day this beautiful old building would be used as a place of learning

It started off as Grange Secondary School (high school)

My grandad, mum and myself were educated there.

My mum and I had our primary education at St Johns Primary at that time it was

located in a building a few streets away from the Grange

The original had outside toilets and separate playgrounds for boys and girls

An increase in numbers resulted in St Johns being relocated to the Grange building

Our girls were educated at Claremont Primary

This is the school that St Johns is amalgamating with

Aimee has just finished P5 and Murray his pre school nursery at St Johns

The girl returned home today with her shirt signed by her school friends

as they are about to head to a new adventure in a brand new school

At 12.45 today St Johns had a closing ceremony and at 15:30 closed

its doors for the last time

I have to say I like our daughter and grandaughter found it a bit emotional

Oh and as a wee bit of extra info my mum was Dux of both schools

It's now onwards to Redwell Primary School

Well Prepared

I do not like decorating

The pleasure some people get from paper and painting totally missed me

Hubbie isn't keen either and as I have said in the past he ends up wearing more paint

than ends up on the walls ceilings doors etc

The love of decorating doesn't get handed down through the genes either

Colin's Papa was a decorator to trade

Shelley our oldest girl works at Quarriers she emailed

to say she had helped paint a shed at work. A cold shiver

ran down my spine she has the same knack with a paint brush as her father

Ah but the girlie was prepared she is all ready to start

She makes me smile x

Sewing & Sports

I finished the cushion made from Liberty 'Dorothy' fabric

I got from Colin at Christmas

I did a square of embroidery for the centre which I really like

It was also the nursery sports day

This is Murrays last year as he starts school in August

Mrs Goodman has been his nursery teacher for the past

two years. She has helped turn the wee teary shy boy into

a confident chap more than ready for school

Here they are today

Oh and Murray was delighted his mummy came 3rd in the 'Mummy' race

100 not out

When I was out of action earlier in the year I had a lot of time

to think one of the things I did decide was to wear what I like and when

I made a full recovery I would do things that I enjoyed. One of my weaknesses

is I do tend to try to please people and worry about what people think of me.

Anyway when we finished the utility room and the study it freed up a room

upstairs that is now my wee crafty / relax room. It needs walls plastered and decorated

but I have decided it will be full of things I love so I busy making

things to go in it.

I so wanted a crochet blanket for the daybed in bright colours just everyone

that I knew while growing up granny used to have

So here are the 100 crochet squares just got to put them together now

P.S

The girlies got their hair done today if you look closely you can see the young girlies

red blue purple temporary streaks all prepared for Fridays school disco

Not the best photo was taken in the car

Swap

I needed something to keep my ongoing embroidery project in

A hunt about the house found a basket filled with pine cones

A wash and a swap around and hey presto something that

looks pretty and is practical

What to do with the pine cones?

Another swap around and they ended up in the fireplace

Only problem will be having to find somewhere to put them when the

winter arrives and we need to use the fire

Up cycle

Bought this from Ikea over a year ago with plans to adapt it a bit

As usual got a bit distracted and never got around to fixing it up

A couple of coats of Elephants Breath Egg Shell by Farrow & Ball

and new handles (all different designs) from ebay

I think it has turned out great and sits perfectly in the sitting area of the kitchen

Of course the handles are in my fav colour

Laughter Needles & Mags

Mum had been working hard this week so Dad took

kids to the Kings Park Stirling yesterday morning

so mum could get bit of 'me' time. They had a great time before heading home

so the girlie could spend the afternoon with her friend from cheerleading.

Oh and mum spent 'me' time washing and ironing the bedding from everyone's beds!!!

I have to admit to being a bit of a Home magazine junkie

I also love books to do with styling homes and crafts

Anyway some of the magazines are creeping up in price and I have put a restriction

on how much I spend on something that ends up in the recycling bin.

I have stumbled across Style at Home magazine it is a great price and full

of affordable things and also recycling furniture and a bit of crafts and gardening

Very me.

Also on the go at the moment is a bit of embroidery which is part of a project I

am working on and it will be staying with me
